How to Play 10,000
10,000 (also known as Farkle) is a fast-paced dice game of risk and reward. Players take turns rolling dice to score points, deciding when to bank their score or risk losing it by rolling again.
What you’ll need
- 6 standard dice
- 2 or more players
-
A way to keep score
(You can use our
Farkle scoring page
to track scores between rolls)
Objective
Be the first player to reach 10,000 points.
Set up
- Choose a player to go first.
- Players take turns clockwise.
Scoring combinations
-
Single 1 = 100 points
-
Single 5 = 50 points
-
Three 1s = 1,000 points
-
Three of any other number = number × 100 points
Additional dice beyond three of a kind add extra points:
-
Four of a kind = double the three-of-a-kind score
-
Five of a kind = triple the three-of-a-kind score
-
Six of a kind = four times the three-of-a-kind score
Taking a turn
- Roll all six dice.
- Set aside any dice that score points.
- You may choose to roll the remaining dice to try to score more points.
You may continue rolling as long as you score at least one scoring die on each roll.
Tip: Many players keep the
scoring page
open on their phone to quickly total points between rolls.
Hot dice
If all six dice score points during a turn, this is called “hot dice.”
- Set all six dice aside.
- Roll all six dice again and continue your turn.
Farkle
If you roll and none of the dice score points, you have rolled a Farkle.
- You score zero points for the entire turn.
- Your turn ends immediately.
Banking points
At any point during your turn, you may choose to bank your accumulated points and end your turn.
Once points are banked, they are safe and added to your total score.
Getting on the board
To begin scoring, a player must score at least 500 points in a single turn.
Once a player has reached this threshold, all future points may be banked normally.
Winning the game
When a player reaches or exceeds 10,000 points, each remaining player gets one final turn.
The player with the highest score at the end of the round wins.
